鍵善良房コレクション 生誕120年記念 黒田辰秋

木工芸の分野で初の人間国宝となった黒田辰秋(1904～1982)生誕120年を記念する展覧会を開催いたします。
鍵善良房と辰秋との縁は、12代店主今西善造(1904～1942)の頃に遡ります。河井寬次郎(1890～1966)ら民藝運動の作家と親交が深かった善造は、その交流の中で辰秋と出会い意気投合。辰秋の腕を見込んだ善造は、旧鍵善良房四条本店の内装デザインを依頼しました。
まだ若く無名であった辰秋が渾身の力で生み出した作品が、現在も四条本店の入口を飾る２つの《拭漆欅大飾棚》です。また、今は喫茶室で提供しているくずきりも、昭和40年代頃までは辰秋作の《螺鈿くずきり用器》に入れられ、仕出しの形で祇園町のお座敷へ届けられていました。
鍵善良房が所蔵する作品の数々は、依頼主と作家という枠を超えた、鍵善と辰秋との縁の深さを想像させます。2021年の開館記念展以来となる鍵善良房コレクション「黒田辰秋」展をどうぞご高覧下さい。
This exhibition celebrates the 120th anniversary of the birth of Tatsuaki Kuroda (1904–1982), the first woodworker to be recognized by Japan as a Living National Treasure.
The connection between Kagizen Yoshifusa and Tatsuaki Kuroda dates back to the time of the twelfth head of the Kagizen Yoshifusa store, Zenzo Imanishi (1904–1942). Zenzo met Kuroda through his close ties with Kanjiro Kawaii (1890–1966) and other Mingei movement artists. Zenzo was enthralled by Kuroda’s work, and had him produce many items for Kagizen, including the two large display cabinets—Fuki-urushi (wiped lacquer) keyaki (zelkova) kazari-dana display cabinet—that face each other inside the entrance of the main Kagizen store on Shijo-dori, and bowls such as those used for serving Kagizen’s kuzukiri noodles at teahouses in Gion—Raden (mother-of-pearl) inlay kuzukiri bowl.
This exhibition reveals the depth of the connection between Kuroda and Kagizen, which extends beyond a simple relationship between artist and client.

黒田辰秋（1904～1982）
京都・祇園生まれ。塗師屋を営む黒田亀吉の六男として職人に囲まれた環境で育つ。それまで一般的だった木漆工芸の分業制と一線を画し、独学で一貫制作を志す。民藝運動にも参加し、1970年木工芸の分野で重要無形文化財保持者に認定。
Tatsuaki Kuroda , 1904-1982
Tatsuaki Kuroda was born into a family of lacquerware craftsmen in the Gion district of Kyoto, and grew up surrounded by artisans. Until then, the production of each lacquered wood item had been handled by specialized workers who each concentrated on part of the process. Kuroda abandoned that practice, and set about learning independently how to handle the whole process himself. He also joined the Mingei movement, and in 1970 he became the first woodworker to be designated a Living National Treasure.
