企画展 「光の器」樂雅臣彫刻展
Special exhibition Masaomi Raku Sculpture Exhibition "The Bowl of Light"

桃山時代、千利休に重用され樂焼を創設した樂家初代長次郎から450年。その長い歴史を紡いできた樂家15代吉左衞門の次男として生まれた樂雅臣は「石の中に表現を、表現と共に自然を」を信念とし、石を主材とする彫刻家です。自然を支配することなく、石の造形を生かした作品づくりをしています。
樂雅臣は、20代で『輪廻』、30代で『Stone box』と名付けたシリーズを発表し、作品の形を変えながらも「自然における生命の循環と摂理」という一貫したテーマを据えてきました。40代を迎えた2022年からは、石を器状に彫り出し焼成した『石器』シリーズに力を注いでいます。
本展では「幽玄 光の世界」、「輪廻 転ずる形」、そして「現世(うつよ) 物質世界」という構成で、光を透過するアラバスターを用いた新作《石器 光の器》、神武岩(溶結凝灰岩)を焼成した《痕跡 石器》、色や表情の異なる大理石からなる『輪廻』の小品《Element Series》など、約30点を展示します。樂雅臣の作品が当館の空間に溶け込む姿を、ぜひご高覧ください。
Masaomi Raku was born into the Raku family, a family of potters with an unbroken line of history and tradition stretching back 450 years to the master potter Chojiro Raku who created the Raku tea bowl in Momoyama Period.
He works as a sculptor, using stone as his primary material. Rather than cutting into stone to dominate it and produce something that is largely the result of human intervention, his practice focuses on following the will of nature, creating works that are in harmony with the forms produced, guided by his aim “to find expression in stone, and to respect nature in the act of making.”
This exhibition will mainly feature works in alabaster and marble of different colors and expressions.

樂 雅臣（らく まさおみ）
1983年京都生まれ。東京造形大学院美術研究領域造形研究科修了、2018年京都市芸術新人賞受賞。主な個展に美術館「えき」KYOTO、石川県立美術館での「彫刻家 樂雅臣展」(2017)、賀茂別雷神社での「樂雅臣個展」（2015）・「石器 石から器を」（2023）など。ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレにあわせ開催されるPalazzo Fortunyでの特別展「PROPORTIO」(2015)・「INTUITION」(2017)にノミネートされ出品するなど、海外でも広く活躍する。
Masaomi Raku
Born in 1983 in Kyoto.Completed a master's degree in sculpture at the Tokyo Zokei University in 2008 and received the Best Young Artist Award by City of Kyoto in 2018. His major solo exhibitions include "Sculptor Raku Masaomi" at Museum "Eki" KYOTO and at Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art (2017),"Raku Masaomi:Sculpture Works" at Kamo-wake-ikazuchi-Shrine (2015) and "Sekki Carved from Stones" (2023), etc. He is also widely active abroad,having been nominated for and exhibited in the special exhibitions "PROPORTIO" (2015) and "INTUITION" (2017) at Palazzo Fortuny, which are held in conjunction with the Venice Biennale.
